The synchrotron Swiss Light Source (SLS) at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen, Switzerland is undergoing an upgrade to the ultra-bright source SLS2.0.One of its consequences is the replacement of optical elements in a few beamlines. As part of the collaboration between the institutes, SLS has decided to donate three disassembled X-ray mirrors to the SOLARIS Centre.

Cedric Peltier, Consul General of France in Krakow, Poland, was a guest of the SOLARIS Center. Ms. Claudine Kieda, head of the research group at the Military Medical Institute, the SOLARIS Director and the French Consul discussed the establishment of Polish-French cooperation for industrial relations.

Scientists from the CIRI beamline at the SOLARIS Center, together with Attocube system AG and COMEF, were the organizers of the Infrared Nanoscopy Workshop on Biological and Polymer Nanomaterials, which takes place on April 24-26, 2024 at the Solaris Center and in the Auditorium of the Jagiellonian Innovation Center. The event, which took place on-site, gathered over a hundred participants who had the opportunity to take part in lectures, porter session and test measurements.

SOLARIS Centre as a member of the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources (LEAPS), was organizer the LEAPS-INNOV annual meeting which took place from 8th to 10th April 2024. The conference was held in a hybrid format and was attended by a total of 120 participants. Than was followed by a scheduled meeting of the Consortium's Board of Directors, which deliberated on the strategic directions of development during the LEAPS General Assembly. The meeting with leading representatives of the European synchrotron community was also joined by the Director of the Department of Innovation and Development (DIR) of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Michał Doligalski.

More than 100 participants gathered on a hybrid meeting at DESY on 14-15 March to officially kick-off the new EU project RIANA. RIANA (standing for Research Infrastructure Access in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology) has officially been launched on 01 March to offer access to Europe’s leading facilities in nanoscience and nanotechnology that are at the heart of the development of new materials for prosperity and sustainability.
